If you like maternal, functional cattle that flesh and last in the herd for many years, DDA Fahren 5Z was as good as it gets. His mother (791) lasted 15 years, his grandmother (580) stayed in production until her death at 20 years, and great grandmother (368) died at 22 years. He was in a commercial herd most of his life before we purchased him back for our own use. 5Z daughters do a great job.
In 2008, we had to put 5Z down due to an injury. He was just a few months shy of ten years old. He was the soundest bull (at that age) that we had ever seen. At that time, we used more 5Z semen than any other sire. 5Z has 142 bull calves at an average birthweight of 77lbs and 128 heifers with a 73lb average.
